Travel Information

Everything you need to know before your trip to Simeulue.

✈️ Getting Here

Fly into Medan (Kualanamu International Airport), then take a domestic flight to Sinabang (Simeulue).

Flights are limited and can be weather dependent, so flexibility is recommended. Our team can assist with transfers from the airport to the lodge.

🌊 Surf Conditions

Simeulue is known for consistent, uncrowded waves with a variety of reef breaks suitable for intermediate to advanced surfers.

The best swell typically runs from April to October, but waves can be found year-round.

📶 Internet & Signal

Expect limited connectivity. Messaging apps generally work, but high-speed internet is not guaranteed.

Telkomsel SIM cards provide the best coverage on the island.

💰 Money & Payments

ATMs are limited and unreliable. Bring enough cash from Medan for your stay.

Most places do not accept card or digital payments.

🍺 Local Culture

Simeulue is a conservative Muslim island. Alcohol is limited and expensive.

We ask guests to dress modestly in town and respect local customs at all times.

🛟 Safety & Travel Tips

Reef breaks can be shallow — reef boots are recommended. Always surf within your ability.

Travel insurance is strongly advised for all guests.

🌊 About the Owner

Originally from Japan, Naoto Mogi moved to Australia in search of waves and has spent over 20 years shaping surfboards and refining his craft.

Now based near Bells Beach with his family, he built Dico Surf Point to share the kind of surf experience he values most — uncrowded waves, simplicity, and connection to the ocean.
